Size 4 0 3 7 8" diameter with a width of 1 11 16". This reel carries the 1902 patent date on the oil cap. German silver safety bands and pair of roller bars. The reel has a very strong adjustable drag and click. This reel has the seven detent arrowhead pointer drag feature with red dot indicators. The reel foot is full length, not filed,
is a bit soiled and lightly ridged
The owner's name is engraved on the back of the reel
John Gierach makes the argument for the 7'9" 5wt for the perfect trout rod in several of his books
