He's a chef and was preparing for a competition and had a load of prawns for a recipe which he didn't need. I've printed this on an A4 sheet of Chinese calligraphy paper using blue and gold ink. It takes a long time to prepare and ink a prawn and then position it ready to print. So although it's a small print, a lot of work goes into it. I picked up one of each leaf or grass I could see as I headed down the path on this particular day and this print is a result of this gathering

Once printed

There are a couple of areas that have small defects in the mounting and for this reason it's discounted

The natural fibres of the handmade Thai mulberry paper introduce warmth and texture

Printed using traditional art grade sumi on handmade Thai Mulberry paper

The carving emphasizes the natural lines of the tail

In doing so you can remove all the creases from the paper and the second sheet bonds to the first making the print thicker and better for framing or mounting on board
