Menai Strait Lobster, Gyotaku Printed in Blue, Green and Gold inkThis lobster was caught in a pot by a local fisherman here in North Wales. It was caught in the Menai Stait. Lobster are a challenge to print as they are so 3 dimensional. Its very tricky printing the legs and their antenna. This lobster is printed on Chinese mulberry paper measuring 69. 5x34cm. Ive used a high quality screen printing ink that is both light fast and permanent. Each print I make is unique as I apply fresh ink before each print is taken

It will fit in a standard A5 frame

My tuna tail came to me from Cornwall

After printing I then use the Urauchi method to apply backing paper to make the print frameable

This process flattens the print back out so it is suitable for framing

The framed print measures approx 36cm wide by 49cm high

and human impact on the sea

framing can be off the shelf and it reduces the cost to my collectors

or alternatively you can buy a frame online

I then flattened it using the Urauchi method

The print has now been mounted to a gesso board measuring 645x305mm

This print is A3 in size so could be framed in an off the shelf frame if desired

and the work is supplied rolled in a protective tube
