Georg Achen, Portrait Study Of A Bearded GentlemanThis late 19th century portrait study by Danish artist, Georg Achen (1860 1912), depicts a bearded gentleman in profile. The sitter is unknown but characterised by heavy eyelids, an extensive beard and a receding hairline. In 1883, when Achen produced this, he was studying under the gifted Danish painter, P. S. Kroyer (1851 1909) and the influence of the master is evident. The portrait is signed in the lower right and housed within a gilt frame. Learn
